WHO IS JEREMY HUBBARD?
UNIVERSITY & ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT
Jeremy studied Electronic Music & Vocal Studies at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating with a BMus (Hons) in 2016. The Electronic Music course was highly exclusive—only 3 students accepted in 2010, with 12-15 students across all four years. The program blended experimental composition, sound art, acoustic research, and vocal performance.
University years included singing with the National Youth Chamber Choir of Great Britain. USA tours, BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, recording sessions at Abbey Road and Maida Vale studios. He also began what would become a 15+ year involvement with CHANTAGE Chamber Choir.
His studies were interrupted by family crisis, requiring extended time away to provide care. During this period, he worked in Iceland as a field recordist (including with Chris Watson, field recordist for David Attenborough documentaries), travelled the Trans-Mongolian Railway from Beijing to Moscow, and worked as a trekking guide in India and Nepal. These detours shaped his approach to independent production and remote location work.
His final project, Jökulvatn, was a four-movement spatial audio composition created from hydrophone and contact microphone recordings of Icelandic glacial environments—ice fracturing, water dripping in caves, mountain streams, waves at the glacier-sea interface. It premiered at Somerset House in 2016. His dissertation explored the relationship between music and acoustic spaces across history.
THE PANDEMIC & THE VIRTUAL CHOIR
When COVID-19 stopped live performance in 2020, Jeremy was freelancing as a videographer and sound recordist across London and the UK. Concerts, corporate work, cultural organizations, adventure tourism. Everything halted overnight.
A request to synchronise and edit a 50-person virtual choir became something much larger. Jeremy built workflows to handle thousands of video submissions from performers worldwide, creating systems for synchronization and visual composition at scale previously unseen in choral music. That first project became 50 more over four years.
Working with Stay At Home Choir (now WorldChoir) and ClassicFM, Jeremy coordinated productions with 2,000+ singers across 30+ countries. Collaborations included Sir Karl Jenkins, The King's Singers, The Swingle Singers, Sir John Rutter, Marin Alsop, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. Projects premiered at Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Brucknerhaus (Austria), and Cadogan Hall.
Key projects: The Global Armed Man (Sir Karl Jenkins), Songbird (The King's Singers), Home (The Swingles), Global Ode to Joy (Marin Alsop/Vienna RSO), and Baba Yetu: The 360 Experience - a VR project with Brunel University. The work contributed to Stay At Home Choir receiving the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Inspiration in 2020.
What started as emergency problem-solving became specialized expertise in virtual choir production, remote collaboration, and hybrid performances blending digital and live elements.
ADVENTURE & OUTDOOR PRODUCTION

ART & EXPERIMENTATION
Under the name JnfH, Jeremy creates experimental sound installations exploring technology, natural environments, and urban infrastructure. Work has been exhibited at Bloomberg Space, Somerset House, and the Barbican.
Current projects include BUSmusic/TUBEmusic: electromagnetic field recordings from London's transport system captured with specialized pickups, transforming hidden sonic environments into interactive musical composition. Other interests include spatial audio, creative coding and custom software development for creative projects, interactive installations, and research into AI's impact on creative workflows. He's also examining bias against singers in how musical expertise and musicianship is valued amonst perfomers and the general public.
PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION WORK
Through NightOwl | Creative Film & Sound, Jeremy has worked with BBC Proms, Classic FM, National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, UNESCO, Korean Embassy (London), Standard Chartered Bank, United Learning, Decca Records, Naxos Records, Savills PLC, Cancer Research UK, and various educational and cultural organizations across the UK and internationally.
Work includes concert recordings using minimal-footprint techniques in heritage venues, multi-camera event coverage, virtual production coordination, promotional videos, sound design and composition, and technical consultation. Notable projects: London International Choral Conducting Competition (multi-year documentation), GREEN LOVE! Songs to Save the World (UNESCO/United Learning COP26), and extensive work with professional choirs and orchestras.
As an indivually Freelancer, he provides camera and sound services for external productions—crew hire for production companies, agencies, and clients needing experienced technical support.
CHORAL PERFORMANCE
Jeremy continues to perform as a bass-baritone. 15+ years with CHANTAGE Chamber Choir, plus previous work with Cantores Michaelis in Southampton and with Icosa Chamber Choir, Beaulieu Abbey Choir, Orlando Chamber Choir, and various professional ensembles across London and the south coast.
This ongoing performance work provides essential perspective for production—understanding performer needs, capturing musical nuance, working unobtrusively in performance spaces, anticipating the flow of live events. Twenty-five years of professional singing informs every technical decision behind the camera or mixing desk.
ATHLETIC PURSUITS
Eight years as a competitive cyclist, currently racing for Cairngorm Cycling Club (formerly Sotonia CC and Hargroves CC Race Team). Club champion in multiple disciplines with regular regional and national competition, including British National 50-mile TT Championships (2024) and Scottish National TT Championships (2025).
Also a keen open water swimmer and STA Open Water Safety qualified, providing practical understanding of adventure tourism operations and event safety. This athletic background directly supports outdoor production work. A deep understanding of the culture, logistics, and challenges from an athlete's perspective, not just as someone holding a camera.
RELOCATION TO THE HIGHLANDS
In March 2025, Jeremy relocated from the New Forest to Kincraig in the Cairngorms National Park due to family circumstances that required significant change after 24 years in Hampshire. The move wasn't planned, but Jeremy is adapting to the new location and exploring opportunities it presents.
He maintains regular travel to London and other UK locations to sustain existing professional relationships and client work, treating the Highland base as a flexible headquarters rather than a limitation. Jeremy is actively building local knowledge and connections in Scotland while continuing remote editing projects and seasonal London work trips for concert recording and networking.
The situation has reinforced skills essential to freelance work—adaptability, resilience, and finding creative solutions when circumstances shift unexpectedly.
CURRENT WORK & FUTURE DIRECTION
After time away focusing on family and personal wellbeing, Jeremy is rebuilding his client base and taking on new projects for 2025 and beyond.
Priorities include developing Highland outdoor and adventure production, expanding heritage sector relationships in Scotland, continuing virtual choir production and remote editing for international clients, and pursuing creative technology and installation opportunities.
Jeremy is particularly interested in projects combining technical challenges with creative storytelling. Productions where standard approaches don't work and innovative solutions are needed. Whether filming in protected heritage sites, coordinating international virtual collaborations, capturing extreme outdoor environments, or developing custom workflows for complex creative problems, he brings both technical expertise and creative problem-solving to every production.
Jeremy Hubbard is a multi-disciplinary creative professional currently based in the Scottish Highlands, working across video production, sound recording and creative technology. Over 15+ years, he's developed an approach that combines technical expertise with a performer's understanding of creative work, the result of spending as much time performing as he does behind the camera or in the edit bay. He works closely with artists and clients to transform concepts into reality, bringing together creative collaboration and technical capabilities to create meaningful and visually compelling productions at any scale.
His work has spanned a number of sectors: events videography and adventure tourism, concert recording, pioneering remote choir production workflows and systems connecting thousands of performers globally, and experimental audio-visual art installations exhibited at venues such as Bloomberg Space, Somerset House and The Barbican. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his remote production work with Stay At Home Choir (now WorldChoir) and ClassicFM contributed to the organization receiving the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Inspiration in 2020. Productions have premiered at Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall, with collaborations including Sir Karl Jenkins, The King's Singers, The Swingles and UNESCO across the UK and around the world.
Jeremy operates through three connected identities: NightOwl | Creative Film & Sound for complete media production services, Jeremy Hubbard | Freelance Crew Services for camera and sound crew hire, and JnfH for experimental audio-visual art, interactive experience and creative tool development, creative sound design, musical composition and other creative and personal projects.
AN OVERVIEW
EARLY YEARS & MUSICAL FOUNDATION
Jeremy's creative journey began with singing at a local church in South West London from age six. In 1999, he joined Chichester Cathedral as a chorister and choral scholar, eventually going on to become Head Chorister in 2004/2005. Cathedral life meant eight services weekly, tours to South Africa, and early exposure to professional performance standards. He was also composing during this period, with one piece reaching the finals of a Young Composers Competition. Money earned from singing funded his first synthesizers and recording equipment.
A music scholarship at secondary school is where his passion for music technology took over. He effectively ran the school's music department and recording studio, occasionally teaching GCSE music lessons when the teach didn't show up, leading the abbey choir and teaching himself production techniques on aging equipment that required constant repair. He also competed in various sports at a high level and joined the National Youth Choir of Great Britain during this period.

WHO IS JEREMY HUBBARD?
Born in south London in March 1992, Jeremy's creative journey started with singing at a small local church in South London from age 6. In 1999, he joined Chichester Cathedral as a choral scholar, going on to become Head Chorister in 2004/2005. During this time he also began composing, with one piece reaching the finals of the Young Composers Competition.
A music scholarship at secondary school is where his love of music technology and production developed. But music wasn't the only focus. Taking lead roles in school musical productions, goalkeeper for the first hockey team, tight head prop in the first rugby team, and throwing discus and shot put at national level. Juggling both athletic and creative pursuits in equal measure. He also joined the National Youth Choir of Great Britain during this period.
From there, he studied Electronic Music & Vocal Studies at Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, graduating with a BMus (Hons) in 2016. The Electronic Music course was highly exclusive, accepting only 3 students in 2010, with just 12-15 students across all four years combined. During university he sang with the National Youth Chamber Choir of Great Britain, which brought tours to the USA, paid performances across the UK, appearances at the Royal Albert Hall for BBC Proms, leading workshops, and recording sessions at Abbey Road and Maida Vale studios for film and broadcast productions. He also began what is now a 20+ year involvement with the multi award winning CHANTAGE Chamber Choir.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeremy pioneered virtual choir and hybrid performance production techniques through partnerships with Stay At Home Choir (now WorldChoir) and ClassicFM, gaining recognition from the Royal Philharmonic Society in 2020. This work in this field has connected thousands of performers globally through over 50 productions, collaborating with The Swingles, VOCES8, The King's Singers, Sir Karl Jenkins, Sir John Rutter, Marin Alsop and others. That combination of traditional choral training and experimental electronic music has shaped everything since. The technical and the creative. The precise and the exploratory.
After 24 years based in the New Forest, Hampshire, Jeremy relocated to Kincraig in the Cairngorms in March 2025. He works across several connected areas. Professional video and audio production happens through NightOwl | Creative Film & Sound, with projects spanning concert recordings, virtual productions, and event coverage for clients internationally. Experimental sound art and installations live under JnfH, with work previously exhibited at Bloomberg Space, Somerset House, and the Barbican. He's also available for freelance camera and sound work on external productions, and continues singing as a bass-baritone with groups including CHANTAGE.
Away from work, cycling takes up a lot of time and energy. Eight years of competitive racing, now riding for Cairngorm Cycling Club (formerly Sotonia CC and Hargroves CC Race Team). Club champion in multiple disciplines, competing regularly at regional and national level. Time trials, road races, and a lot of evening and night riding on Highland roads in all weathers. Also a keen open water swimmer and STA Open Water Safety qualified.
After some time away to focus on family and personal wellbeing, Jeremy is actively taking on new projects and collaborations for 2025 and beyond.
